Bangle Comparison: How to Choose the Perfect Style for You

Bangle Comparison: How to Choose the Perfect Style for You

Oh my God, would you just look at all this arm candy? Obsessed! Welcome back, loves—this is Bonnie with By Bonnie Jewelry, where we talk about all things diamonds. And yes, we LOVE diamonds. But today’s blog is extra special because we’re diving into something just as stunning—channel-set bangles!

I have all three metal colors here in both larger and smaller sizes, and I’m breaking it all down for you. Which metal is best for your style? Which size should you go for? I’ve got all the answers, so stay with me till the end.

Platinum vs. Gold: Which Bangle is Right for You?

Okay, first up—platinum! Yes, loves, this beauty can also be made in white gold, and let me tell you, so many of you have been asking, “Bonnie, can you make it in white?” Well, here it is!

Now, let’s break it down. In a previous video and blog, I went over diamond sizes, and this is so important because it actually affects the look way more than total carat weight.

So here’s the breakdown:

  • 100 points = 1 carat

  • These diamonds? 15 points each, giving a delicate sparkle.

Now, let’s talk metal differences:

  • Platinum—a timeless, cool-toned beauty.

  • 18K Yellow Gold—warm, classic, and rich.

  • 14K Rose Gold—soft, romantic, and dreamy.

Which one speaks to you? Are you a platinum queen, a golden goddess, or a rose gold romantic?

How to Choose the Right Bangle Color and Size

One of the most common questions I get is: What color should I choose? And honestly, it all depends on your lifestyle.

If you’re looking for everyday comfort, keep in mind that platinum is on the heavier side. But here’s what I love about platinum—it doesn’t require rhodium plating, meaning the color won’t change over time. It does scratch (all metals will), but if you own a Cartier Love bangle, you probably already know that polishing is limited.

These bangles stack perfectly next to Cartier and other classic styles, so if you love a mixed-metal or all-diamond look, this is for you.

Now, let’s talk weight differences:

  • The heavier versions are over 30g.

  • The yellow gold smaller version is over 20g.

  • The platinum thinner size is still over 30g—so if you love a sturdy feel, platinum might be the way to go.

For width, this one is 5.5-5.6mm, but if you’re stacking, it’s important to measure your bangles. Grab a caliper (you can order one on Amazon) and compare widths to make sure your stack isn’t overwhelming.

This one is 4mm, and now I’m thinking—should we go even thinner? Maybe 5 or 6 points instead of 15? Let me know if you want a daintier version!

How to Measure Your Wrist for the Perfect Bangle Fit

If you’re ordering a bangle—especially online—and aren’t sure how to measure, here’s what you need to know.

Start by measuring your wrist exactly where you want the bangle to sit. Once you have your wrist size:

  • Add half an inch for a snug fit with some movement.

  • Add three-quarters of an inch if you prefer a looser feel.

For custom bangles, we recommend taking an existing bangle that fits you well and measuring its inner width and length. This helps us tailor the perfect fit—though keep in mind, there are some limitations when customizing.

Now, let’s talk metal choices:

  • 14K gold is lighter, making it great for everyday wear.

  • 18K gold has a richer, more vivid color.

  • Platinum is heavier and ultra-luxurious, but if you want something lighter in the same tone, white gold is a great alternative.

And let’s not forget the custom lock—this seamless design is what makes a luxury bangle feel effortless on your wrist.
