flush ring, flush band

Hello, everyone! Welcome back to our By Bonnie blog, where we talk about all things diamonds! I’m very excited to share with you a brand new wedding band that I recently made and that I’m sure is going to blow your mind! So, If you’re into classic and elegant jewelry, be sure to strap in, because you’re in for a treat!

Three-Stone Rings…Can They Really Sit Flush?

You may have noticed the trend among celebrities of having three-stone rings, and if you’ve followed me for a while now, you’ll know that in the past I made a three-stone ring for a couple that was looking for something big and glamorous. But I’ve noticed that a lot of people ask me how to make a three-stone engagement ring sit flush or no gap with a wedding band.

So, you guys know I'm the queen of three-stone rings, I’m your girl when it comes to making things beautiful, seamless, and flush. In fact, I previously did the Hailey Bieber inspired ring, and we did a flush wedding band even though it was an extra low profile one. I actually posted it on Instagram and mentioned how this client was looking for something thicker because, typically when it comes to these kinds of engagement rings, we’ll try and do something a little more dainty or you may have even seen those curved, v-shaped wedding bands.

When I posted this specific ring, a client asked me if I could make a band for a three-stone engagement ring that would sit completely flush with no gap, so they practically wanted something with no space between either one of the rings. And you know that I love a challenge! So when I read that, I was like, “ding, ding, ding, I think I have a winner”! Let me explain.

You may or may have not seen (or heard) about my personal Instagram page, @MissBonnieTalks, which is where I share my personal life outside of jewelry and ring making.

And in one of the posts I had made I was actually in Mexico wearing my travel set. Remember this, because it’s an important part of this storytime!

So, anyway, the idea of having a flush wedding set was from this couple that had just gotten engaged with this beautiful three-stone ring and they were searching for a perfectly flush wedding band to match that ring.

You know that when it comes to wedding bands, there are so many options to choose from! But when the engagement ring is a larger stone (or like in this case, three stones), the options are typically reduced and it can become difficult to find the perfect one.

Now, back to the part about the Instagram posts I had made! So, I was just talking to her and I casually showed her my travel ring and she was like, “Oh, wait a minute, that looks interesting.”

The reality is that it was something I had designed for myself because I wanted a really low set for travel. But now that she was interested in something that would sit flush with her large ring, I thought that this idea would be perfect for her. Initially, though, she was kind of hesitant and asked me for some time while she made up her mind.

An important thing to point out is that my travel ring is actually based on my travel band. The only difference between my travel band and the one I made for this client is that mine is plain in the middle, it’s just the metal showing where the three-stone ring sits flush. So, I designed something glorious and perfectly flawless for her in my mind and got straight to work.

Needless to say, both the client and I were completely blown away by the outcome. It’s an extra low profile emerald cut band.

We didn't use super huge diamonds on the band because we really wanted that flush look as well as protagonism for the actual ring. But the real winner here is the craftsmanship of the band. It takes a master level of craftsmanship (like at By Bonnie!) in order to be able to do two key things that you can find on it: the extra low profile on the band and the fact that it sits perfectly flush to the point where we’re still able to fit the stone and set the diamonds.

In the picture below, you’ll be able to appreciate something that you probably haven't seen anywhere else on the market. Take a look at how perfectly flush it sits on my finger.

It’s common to see that other people will usually create a bridge or gap between this type of ring and the wedding band that they pair it with, but the issue with that is that it actually brings the profile up. That's a great technique for anything that's a little bit smaller but when you look at this with a four and a half carat rock, you really don't want it to be lifted more than it already is.

In the end, we were able to create what she could only dream of, she now has a beautiful engagement ring paired with a very low profile, flush wedding band. I can officially say that, at By Bonnie Jewelry, we make dreams come true.

Pairing Wedding Bands

Now let's explore the magic of transformation in jewelry as we dive into the story of our client's original three-stone ring and the incredible addition of a travel ring. This ingenious concept allows her to switch up her style effortlessly, whether on the go or at home. With this, she’s no longer confined to just the emerald cut, she found a way to keep her wedding band versatile.

Picture this, although her existing set harmonizes perfectly, she's still seeking a more compact and distinct look for her travel adventures. Enter the 2.5-carat round diamond solitaire, elegantly complementing the emerald cut's charm.

By sliding on the six-prong band, a world of pairing possibilities opens up, transcending shapes with seamless grace.

But that's not all. She can also pair it with the innovative north-south prong with Tulip design, ingeniously addressing the challenge of pairing with larger wedding bands.
