5ct Radiant Cut Engagement Ring + Wedding Band Pairings
Share
Welcome back to another By Bonnie blog, where we talk about all things diamonds and craftsmanship! I cannot wait to dive into today’s piece—it’s dreamy, radiant, and just plain dazzling. I’ve been humming “You’re Just Too Good to Be True” all day because of this diamond? It’s giving the main character energy.
This week, we’re featuring a 5.5-carat radiant cut solitaire that is pure sparkle and sophistication. The ratio is a perfect 1.49, and the color? An E-color VVS2. Translation: it’s colorless, crisp, and impossibly clean. Let’s talk about why I’m completely head over heels for this design.
The New Hybrid Setting: Low Profile, High Impact
One thing that makes this ring extra special is its new hybrid setting. Because of its larger size, I lowered the stone just slightly so it doesn’t sit too high on the finger. The client told me his soon-to-be fiancée is very active, and she needs a ring she can wear every single day—without sacrificing size or sparkle.
So we brought the diamond down just enough for a comfortable, low-profile fit and added our signature French pavé hidden halo. She still gets that gorgeous lift from the stone, but with added stability and everyday wearability.
Bands That Balance and Elevate
Let’s talk about pairings! I’m showing off this radiant beauty with not one, not two, but three different band styles.
-
Sofia Band: Round diamonds at 2.6 mm, giving a soft sparkle that doesn’t steal the spotlight. Bonus detail: we added a diamond bar for that little extra something, because if you know me, you know I don’t hold back on the sparkle.
-
Contour Band: Sits completely flush with the solitaire—hello, seamless!
-
Petite Radiant Band: For the radiant-on-radiant fans out there. I love the texture mix with this one!
Curating the Perfect Diamond—It’s Not Just the Stats
Here’s the thing I always say: don’t buy with your eyes closed. A diamond isn’t just numbers on a paper or a 360-spin video. I personally compare stones in natural light, side-by-side, because two diamonds with identical specs can perform completely differently.
This client got to see the difference firsthand, and she immediately knew which one was hers. And when we talk about curating—not just buying—it’s about pairing the right diamond with the right craftsmanship, the right proportions, and the right person. That’s what we do here.
Team Gap or Team Flush?
Some of my clients love a completely flush look. Others love a bit of a gap to separate their engagement ring from the band. There’s no right or wrong answer—it’s about what makes you feel something when you look at your hand.
This ring is part of our Chloe Collection, one of our most sought-after styles. And fun fact: I’m currently making this exact setting in an emerald cut version. Who wants to see it next?
So, Are You in Love Too?
If you’re a radiant cut lover, let me hear it—drop me a comment or message on social media. I’m always dreaming up new settings, new diamond shapes, and new ways to make your ring feel one-of-a-kind. Until next time, stay sparkly, be bold, and don’t let anyone dim your shine.
