Show And Tell of My Personal Jewelry Collection
Share
Your prayers have been answered! You guys have always wanted me to make a video about my personal collection—what would Bonnie choose for her own jewelry? Well, today’s the day! Welcome back to another By Bonnie blog, where we talk about all things diamonds! And today, we’re getting a little personal.
My Personal Jewelry Collection!
Now, I do want to say—one of the reasons I don’t talk much about my own jewelry is because, well…the internet is a scary place. People can find out way too much, way too easily, and honestly, that can get dangerous. My husband has specifically asked me not to overshare for my own safety, and I completely respect that. But today? I’m spilling just a little tea. Because I think it’s worth it to share with you guys.
Leather Strap Gold Rolex Daytona
First up in my personal collection—and you might be surprised by this—it’s not a diamond ring. It’s actually a gold Rolex Daytona with a diamond dial on a leather strap.
Now, you might be wondering, Bonnie, why a watch? Well, here’s the thing… my love for fine craftsmanship didn’t start with diamonds. It started with timepieces.
My father was a watchmaker when I was little. He actually had a factory where he manufactured the movement inside watches for Japanese companies. So imagine little Bonnie, running around a factory filled with gears and precision tools—that’s where my obsession with craftsmanship and attention to detail was born.
So why did I choose this Rolex as my first big purchase? Well, at the time, I wasn’t married, had just finished college, and was trying to find my own path. My dad? He wasn’t one of those stereotypical Asian parents pushing me to be a doctor or a lawyer. Nope. He told me the opposite—he said, Go get a job, get yelled at, toughen up before you become a little princess.
And that’s exactly what I did.
This gold Daytona was the first big piece I bought with my own money, and that made it incredibly sentimental. My dad always told me, Be independent. Take care of yourself. Don’t rely on anyone. And this watch? It was a symbol of that independence.
Now, back in the day, oversized Daytonas were the thing for women. Do I wear it as much now? Not really—I’m all about diamonds these days. But I still love it.
Funny enough, during COVID, prices for this watch skyrocketed. My brother kept telling me to sell it. Did I? Absolutely not. Some things are just too special.
Pink Sapphire and Emerald Cut Diamond Eternity Bands
Alright, moving on to the second piece in my personal collection—drumroll please—these rings right here! The pink sapphire diamond bands with an emerald center.
Now, I know you’ve seen me wear these a lot, but I’ve actually never made an official blog about them. If you’ve ever heard me talk about it, you know this set took me over a year (maybe even two!) to collect the perfect pink sapphires.
Now, you might be thinking, Oh, Bonnie, what a stunning ring! But plot twist… it’s actually three separate bands. Yup! Three! One, two, three. And I know, I know—you probably thought it was one solid piece, but nope! And here’s why I designed it this way: versatility. Ladies, listen up—this is the keyword! You know that one cute designer purse or pair of shoes that you love, but never actually wear because it doesn’t go with anything? That was my exact problem with jewelry.
I used to have these one-of-a-kind statement pieces, but then I realized… I could only wear them with one outfit. And that just wasn’t going to work for me. So I wanted to create something that was classic but adaptable—something that worked with multiple looks. The diamond band in the center? Can’t get more timeless than that. And I love big emeralds (spoiler alert: I’m working on another project… two-carat each! If you want to see that, comment YES below).
Now, let’s talk about the East-West Pink Sapphire—because, yes, that orientation matters! I love pink. I love color. And here’s the thing—if you’ve noticed, I wear a lot of white in my videos. That’s because white reflects best in diamonds, and I don’t want a bunch of dark colors messing with my sparkle. But I also don’t want to see my knuckles, and I love bold statement pieces. To me, they complete an outfit. So having a wide, right-hand band felt like the perfect choice.
Now, am I stopping at pink sapphires? Absolutely not. I’m currently working on blue sapphires and green emeralds, so I can match them with different outfits and earrings. Because listen—if I’m investing in fine jewelry, I want it to work for me.
So, quick pro tip for you: If you have two pavé diamond bands, let me tell you—invest in more! Whether it’s French pavé, U-pavé, whatever your preference, these bands are game changers. You can swap out the center stone with textured gold, colored gems, or other rings, creating a custom ring guard effect that goes with everything. So if you’re thinking about adding to your collection—this is your sign.
Cushion Cut Ruby Eternity Band
Alright, let’s talk about number three—this gorgeous ruby eternity band.
Let me take this beauty off and show you… ugh, perfection. An eternity band in rich, vibrant rubies. And let me tell you—this was not an easy piece to create. I’ve been on the hunt for years to find just the right cushion-cut rubies.
Now, if you know anything about gemstones, you know that cushion-cut rubies are way harder to source than round rubies. It’s a whole process. I actually talked a lot about rubies in another blog where I made a pair of custom ruby earrings (definitely check that out if you haven't already!).
But let’s get into why I love this piece.
First off, red is the color of passion, love, and confidence. It’s bold, it’s powerful, and honestly? It just makes me feel something. I love natural gemstones—of course, I love diamonds—but there’s just something about a deep, rich ruby that’s completely mesmerizing.
Now, why did I choose an eternity band? Because duh, I’m extra. I love when a ring has sparkle all the way around. Back in the day, people used to call it a cab—you know, when the diamonds go all the way around the ring? Well, I am that girl. I love extra. I am the queen of diamonds, after all. But listen, if you’re thinking of making a ring like this, here’s my advice:
Do not do a full eternity band unless you really know your size. Instead, I recommend going for halfway or three-quarters—that way, you have some wiggle room for sizing. I actually lost weight over time (yay me!), and now this ring is so loose—like, dangerously loose. And let me tell you, I learned the hard way how important fit is.
So, here’s my pro tip for securing a ring that’s too big: I use a tiny spacer band—a 1mm platinum band (but you can get it in white gold, yellow gold, whatever suits you). I get it one size smaller, slip it on before my eternity band, and boom—locked in place. No slipping, no stress.
And trust me, you do not want to make the same mistake I did. Picture this: It’s my birthday, I’m celebrating, having fun, washing my hands, and then—poof—one of my rings just flies right off. I had to dig through 13 gallons of party trash (yes, actual garbage) to find it. Not my finest moment. So please—learn from me. If your ring is loose, secure it. You’ll thank me later.
That’s a Wrap—My Personal Collection, Part One!
