This Is What 30+ Years of Marriage Looks Like (Diamond Edition)
Share
Hello, my radiant diamond lovers! This is Bonnie with By Bonnie Jewelry, where we talk about all things diamonds, craftsmanship, and celebrating life’s moments with sparkle. Today’s blog is dedicated to someone incredibly special—my dear client-turned-friend Bridget. And let me just say… after 30+ years of marriage, she absolutely earned this glow-up.
The Backstory: Bridget’s Emerald Love Story
A few years ago, Bridget reached out to me to celebrate her 29th anniversary. (Yes, twenty-nine!)
At the time, we made her a stunning 3-carat emerald cut solitaire with a matching emerald band. So elegant. So timeless. Fast forward a few years—Bridget’s back, and ready to turn up the volume on the bling.
This time? A 4-carat emerald cut with pave and diamonds on the side.
Still classic, still full of personality, but with a bigger sparkle story. She’s loving emerald cuts—and honestly, so am I.
Why Emerald Cuts? Why Not?
If you're new here, let me tell you a little something about emerald cuts. They’re clean, bold, and confident in diamond form. But you must go for higher clarity—especially with this step-cut style. Bridget went with a high-color, high-clarity stone, and it made all the difference.
Want to see how color plays in emerald cuts? We’ve worked with DEF all the way down to K color. Personally? I think emeralds are surprisingly forgiving with color. Compared to ovals or pears, they wear warmth beautifully. But for Bridget—we went icy, colorless perfection.
Let’s Talk Bands: Big Emeralds, Big Energy
This time around, Bridget said, “Bonnie, I want to go bigger.” And you know I said yes. For the wedding band, we used half-carat emeralds each, creating a bold, all-eyes-on-you look that she could stack or wear solo.
Heads up—when a band gets this wide, it won’t sit perfectly flush with your engagement ring. But Bridget was totally cool with a slight gap. (She already has pave bands in her collection and knows how to style her sparkle!)
And let’s not forget the bonus band—a half-carat round eternity band that she fell in love with after seeing it paired with an oval in one of my past blogs. She stacked it with the emerald band and… WOW. So much versatility. You can wear the round band on top, below, or even solo for a casual glam vibe.
Comfort, Craftsmanship, and a Fitness Journey
We made all her bands 3/4 eternity (yes, I know some of you love full—but hear me out). Bridget is on a fitness journey and has been feeling fabulous lately, so we built in flexibility to size the bands later. She’s glowing in more ways than one!
Also—this double gallery design is everything. It’s luxe and dimensional, but smooth and comfortable. You don’t feel any bulky metal between the fingers. Just pure sparkle. Yes, it’s a 4-carat ring, so you’ll feel something, but as Bridget and I say—your hand isn’t clenched all day. Let it live, let it shine!
Knuckle? I Don’t Know Her.
Some of you are probably already typing “too many diamonds” in the comments—and to that, I say: To each their own! Bridget wanted full glam, no knuckle showing, just diamonds on diamonds on diamonds. And honestly? I support that vision.
You don’t have to wear all the bands at once (but you totally can). She’ll be mixing it up with pieces from her own wardrobe, and every single combo looks stunning. I love that she can wear the ring solo for something sleek and modern—or go full stack for an entrance.
The Best Part? She Came Back.
Watching my clients return for their second (or third or fourth!) piece is the highest compliment. Bridget’s heading into retirement now, glowing and sparkling, and I couldn’t be more honored to be part of her story.
Bridget—thank you. I love this journey for you. And to the rest of you sparkle lovers, let me ask:
Are you team stacked and sparkling or team sleek and solo?
