Please allow 3-7 business days for our team to get back to you!
We value your time, and ours. Our process is anything but a traditional “walk in'' experience. We ask all clients to begin their journey with us virtually by submitting an inquiry on our website or by scheduling a phone appointment here.
A By Bonnie Team Member will reach out to you and facilitate the next steps of the process. Whether you are in the early stages of shopping or know exactly what you’re looking for, we can discuss design concepts, provide general quotes and curated options, or offer more specific pricing of any particular piece you have in mind.
Once we’ve gone through this preliminary process and have a better understanding of what you’re looking for, we will be more than happy to welcome you into our atelier!
Just be sure to communicate your interests with one of our team members!
Due to the limited time-slots we have for local and world-wide clients who are flying in for their visit, a minimum of $250 USD deposit is required to secure an in-person viewing appointment. (Deposit amount can vary based on the product you are inquiring about and will be 100% applicable to any purchase made in the atelier).
Here’s a checklist of items to know when you’re ready:
✔️ I know what diamond shape I want as well as some of the specific 4Cs.(Carat, Color, Clarity, Cut)
✔️ I have a good idea of what type of ring setting design I’m looking for. ✔️ I have a good idea of my desired budget. (Please note that due to the nature of our custom process, all engagement rings start at $4,000 USD) ✔️ I have a general idea of my timeline and when I need the ring completed. In today’s market, you have all these amazing diamond options to choose from! We want to give you all the knowledge and confidence necessary to make an informed decision that’s right for you.
Lab vs Natural? Bonnie is all about education with zero judgment. You do you!
We offer both, check out this page here for a full breakdown of both.
We only set diamonds or gemstones that are purchased directly from us.
All of our rings are sold exclusively with one of our curated diamonds as a packaged set. Loose diamonds and settings are not sold separately.
As a boutique company, we do not. Many of our clients are able to work with their local banks to secure financing options that work best for them! To give you a better understanding of our payment policy, we require a 60% deposit of the total to be made at the time of the order. The remaining 40% is due once your order is completed prior to shipping out your piece(s) or scheduling for in person pickup. All International orders are required to be paid in full before production begins.
Our Atelier is located in sunny Burlingame, Northern California. :)
We are open by appointment only from Tuesday to Friday: 10-5pm, and Saturday: 10-3pm. We are closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Yes, we have a zero-tolerance policy toward conflict diamonds. We invite you to read more at our Ethical Sourcing page
If you’ve watched any of our Youtube videos, you’ll notice how much we stress that the overall beauty and brilliance of a diamond can not be judged merely with a grading report but with the human eye.
Diamond curation means we look, inspect, compare, and filter through actual diamonds in person where we will only give you options for our top selection of either lab grown or natural diamonds. For example, we look for the best cuts/makes, H color diamonds that face up like F/G, and VS clarity with less noticeable inclusions to the naked eye.
Most importantly with lab grown diamonds, our curated options will have no tints/tinges that are common and inherent in the growth process, not disclosed on any diamond certificates, and can be difficult to see even on hi-def videos you typically see online.
We sort through a vast number of diamonds to present you with only 3-5 of our best options, expertly tailored to meet or exceed your expectations.

Since all of our pieces are made-to-order with a 6-8 week lead time, we recommend starting the journey with us approximately 3 months before needing a finished piece. We kindly ask all clients to begin with us virtually by either submitting an online inquiry or scheduling a 10-15 min phone consultation using this link .
We encourage couples to do the consultation together or have a candid conversation with one another beforehand! It is important that you and your partner are on the same page regarding diamonds, size, shape, budget and timing. It is very common for couples to start the process together, and eventually the recipient leaves the process in order to maintain an element of surprise for the proposal.
After the call, a By Bonnie Team Member will reach out to you and facilitate the next steps of the process. Whether you are in the early stages of shopping or know exactly what you’re looking for, we can discuss design concepts, provide general quotes and curated options, or offer more specific pricing of any particular piece you have in mind.
The first step of our process begins exclusively online. (Please read above) After we have gone through the process of getting to know you and what you’re looking for, we will be more than happy to welcome you into our atelier!

We do not offer walk-in appointments. Please note that we are typically 2-4 weeks booked in advance. If you have a very short timeframe, please communicate that with one of our team members and we will definitely do our best to accommodate you!
The more information you are able to share beforehand, the more efficiently we will be able to assist you. Please share any inspiration screenshots, pictures, preferences on the 4Cs, timeline, desired budget, etc. We highly recommend sharing photos of your favorite By Bonnie pieces!
If you are flying in from a different state/country, please communicate your flight details with us so we can anticipate your arrival accordingly.
Unlike major retailers, we do not stock our showrooms with dozens of diamonds and settings. Instead, our private showroom experience is individually tailored to each client. We feature a portion of our signature jewelry and present you with 3-5 pre-curated diamonds that are prepared for you. You will be able to try things on, get our thoughts and suggestions as to which style best suits you, or answer any additional questions or concerns you may have!
Since our inventory can change from day to day and our current production lead time is around 6-8 weeks, we usually recommend starting the virtual process with us approximately 2-3 months before you need the finished ring. After the initial consultation, we would coordinate and schedule an in-person appointment if you are within 30 days from your desired purchase timeline.
“Most clients who reach out to me, aren’t just looking to buy a piece of jewelry. They value my input, passion and how I execute the fine details with an exquisite level of craftsmanship. Trust isn’t just given, it is earned and reputation is built over time.”

The main thing that differentiates us from most online companies or commercial jewelers is not only our personal diamond curation, but the level of craftsmanship and attention to detail we put into everything we do. Each and every prong is meticulously shaped and cut in the metal by our master setters. This takes a high level of skill and craftsmanship which result in exceptional quality comparable to other luxury jewelry companies!
Please refer to all of the raving reviews from our clients all across the US and around the world here.
Our process is extremely transparent, visual, and as thorough as possible. We spend countless hours making educational videos on Youtube, as well as full try-on videos zooming into the details of our signature settings.
We have served many clients nationwide and across the world. We recommend reading the testimonials written by our clients here.

Yes we do, all new natural diamond purchases over $10,000 come with a complimentary appraisal.
For lab grown diamonds, please use the bill of sale. However, if you need an additional appraisal, please reach out to our team and make a request at [email protected].
Just like natural diamonds, not all lab diamonds are grown or cut perfectly. Growing a lab diamond too fast, or without quality material and equipment, can result in having brown/ blue/ gray-ish hues. This is a very common issue and inherent in the growth process.
When you browse on major retailer sites, they offer a large list of diamonds through videos but most of what’s being offered to you have not been vetted by actual human eyes. These tint/tinge issues are not disclosed on any diamond certificates, and can be difficult to see even on hi-def videos. At By Bonnie, we have a very strict curation process where our GIA certified gemologists filter out those types of diamonds, and our mission is to offer only the best cuts/makes with the most fire and brilliance.
Our hope is that all of our new and existing clients trust our expertise and our decades of experience in diamonds and the jewelry industry as a whole to help choose the perfect stone for them! After all, this is what we are here for!
Yes, Lab created diamonds do test as diamonds.
However, keep in mind that low-cost diamond testing tools used by the majority of jewelers are created to test between stimulants (moissanite, cubic zirconia) and diamonds, NOT between lab grown diamonds and natural mined diamonds. That’s why it’s important to have a proper grading report that shows you what type of diamond you have.
Natural and lab diamonds of the same quality look exactly the same side by side, even to a trained eye. A lab diamond can only be distinguished from natural diamonds using specialized equipment that can detect the minor differences in trace elements and crystal growth.
Another way to tell if a diamond is lab grown or natural is by using a microscope or a loupe to find the certificate number laser inscribed on the girdle. This unique ID allows for the examiner to trace the diamond back to the diamond report where it will list the exact specs of the diamond as well as if it is lab grown or naturally mined.
All By Bonnie Diamonds above 1.00ct are graded by third party, non-profit gemological institutions that certify each and every one of our diamonds with a microscopic laser inscription.
The main difference between the two is how they are made and how they are priced. Visually, they look and feel the same.
Natural Diamonds are made of carbon bonded together under extremely high temperatures until they form crystals. It takes 1- 3 billions years for this to happen. So natural diamonds are literally the oldest thing on earth you can touch!
Scientists have found a way to form diamonds using a process called High-Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) which mimics the natural conditions needed to form these precious stones.
Additionally, diamonds can be formed using another process called Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD). This process utilizes carbon-rich gas, such as methane, placed in a vacuum chamber, which is like a giant microwave making diamonds!
Lab grown diamonds sell at 40%-70% of a discount compared to a natural diamond of equivalent quality.
We believe that both growth processes are acceptable and you shouldn't choose one over the other. What’s most important is the final product. With emphasis on how the diamond is cut, with lots of fire & brilliance, and no unwanted tints/tinges.
From our experience, clients are wanting to explore lab grown diamonds because of the value and savings and the desire for more finger coverage and size, not as an investment to buy and resell diamonds or jewelry.
Since lab grown diamonds are a more recent introduction to the market, there is more uncertainty on future pricing or their respective value on secondary markets.
They absolutely sparkle the same as natural diamonds since sparkle and brilliance are directly tied to precision cutting and manufacturing of the rough material! Just check out any of our lab grown diamond videos. And no, it will not tarnish, change color or dull over time, just like a natural diamond.
Diamonds are grown in the United States and all over the world in high-tech facilities staffed by scientists, engineers, and technicians with main production being in China and India.
We do not offer trade-ins and upgrade lab grown diamonds. All sales for lab grown diamonds are final sale.
We use natural melee diamonds for natural diamond pieces and lab-grown melees for lab-grown diamond pieces. Circumstances may vary for special orders.
All natural mined loose diamonds and diamond stud earrings purchased from By Bonnie, which excludes lab grown/lab-created diamonds and colored gemstones, may be upgraded as long as the following terms and conditions are met:
