I couldn't wait to share the story of how I surprised my mother on Mother's Day with a truly remarkable gift: a stunning pear-shaped diamond ring. 

This precious creation, with its 3.5-carat pear shape diamond centerpiece, represents my mother's first ever piece of jewelry from my hands. After teasing the surprise on my Instagram story, many of you expressed a keen interest in learning more about the intricate details of this sentimental ring. A Bond Between Mother and Daughter 

As I sit here, preparing to head to the airport, I can hardly contain my excitement. Today I have a special surprise for my mother, who is departing for her home in Hong Kong. 

You see, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been separated for three long years. The circumstances made it impossible for us to reunite, and it was an especially challenging time as I became a mother myself during the early days of the pandemic. I'm sure all the mothers out there can understand the chaos and uncertainty that surrounded that period. With masks, social distancing, and lockdowns, it was a whirlwind. Unfortunately, my parents couldn't be there to support me during this time, as travel restrictions kept them confined to Hong Kong.

Now, my mother could finally visit my newly upgraded office, a place she has not seen before. It holds significance for me, as I left my home in Hong Kong at a young age to come to the United States. Our relationship has had its ups and downs over the years, with many challenges to navigate. 

However, I have always dreamt of the day when I could proudly show my parents the life I have built here, living the American dream. They have never needed me to take care of them, as they are independent and self-sufficient. But it fills my heart with joy to finally be able to say, "Look, I made it." It's a moment of triumph and validation, a chance to bridge the gaps of the past and create new memories together.

The inspiration behind this special piece came from a moment we shared in my office. She had noticed a stunning pear-shaped diamond and couldn't help but be captivated by its sparkling beauty when she tried it on. It was a subtle hint she dropped, perhaps to my dad, although he isn't particularly fond of diamonds! Good thing I am!

I designed a three stone style for her because I wanted her to have a timeless design that she will cherish forever. The sides are flanked with two smaller pear shaped diamonds, 0.30ct each, 0.60ct total. Making it over 4ct of Pear Shape diamonds altogether. I also chose a Pear Shape diamond that is 1.60 ratio, which is not too short and not too long. Perfect for my mom’s petite hands.
