diamond haters

Alright, my gloves are coming off.

You guys, I never comment on things or talk about other people or businesses, but after seeing this commercial where a company is actively bashing people for buying lab-grown diamonds? I just can’t stay quiet. I’m all for good vibes and education, but come on, let’s not throw shade at people’s personal choices.

Why I’m upset!

Okay, so have you seen that YouTube commercial where these two girls are gossiping about their friend's engagement ring? They're like, "Oh, Emily just got engaged. Do you think it's lab-grown, or do you think it's real?" Seriously, so out of touch, ladies! And then this brand goes on to say that lab-grown diamonds are worthless—they even claim, “We give them away for free!” And here's the kicker: the commercial says that if you don’t buy a natural diamond, your marriage is doomed and won’t last forever.

Excuse me, what?! I mean, come on, that’s just flat-out judgmental. It's not about the diamond; it's about the love and commitment, people!

Your Marriage & Your Diamond

Wow. If I got a dollar for every time I laughed at this, I’d be rolling in diamonds! You guys, I’m in the wedding industry, and let me tell you—buying a diamond is literally a therapy session sometimes.

I watch couples go from dating to engaged, to married, to having babies… and yes, sometimes even divorcing. And trust me, just because you buy a natural diamond does not mean your marriage and happiness are guaranteed to last forever. This whole narrative is so out of touch. Like, let’s be real—love isn’t measured in carats!

Why Focus On Just One Type of Diamond?

I love diamonds—so why does it have to be just one particular type of diamond? Before lab-grown diamonds even entered the chat, we had laser-drilled diamonds, lower-clarity diamonds, lower-color diamonds… and guess what? Those still exist! At the end of the day, it’s all about personal choice and how you want to celebrate life’s special moments.

Maybe it’s a ring passed down from your grandma, something deeply sentimental. Maybe it’s a brand-new sparkler that makes your heart skip a beat. And let’s not forget—hellooo, people don’t only wear diamonds!

Engagement Rings & Different Cultures

Did you know that in Europe—and so many places around the world, like Japan—people literally walk into a store and just buy plain bands? No stones, no diamonds, no nothing. So are we saying that those marriages won’t last just because there’s no diamond involved? Like… what? This logic is so ridiculous, I can’t.

Respect To Be Respected

There are so many Reddit posts about this, and people are calling her all kinds of things. But honestly, I’m not here to do that. We’re in the same industry, and I believe we should respect each other.

If you can’t respect what your clients want—if you can’t respect people for making their own choices—then maybe don’t go making commercials bashing them. It’s just… not nice.

Why do people feel the need to tell others what to buy and what not to buy? It’s like a woman walking down the street with a Chanel bag, pointing at someone carrying a Coach bag, and saying, "Ha! You don’t have a Chanel!" Like… what? That’s ridiculous.

If you want a Chanel bag, get a Chanel bag. If you want a Coach bag, get a Coach bag. If you want no bag at all, amazing. Buy whatever makes you happy, because at the end of the day, it’s your choice. Period.

Do Lab Diamonds Not Hold Any Value?

I’ve talked about this before, but let’s bring it up again. I read somewhere that a guy spent $140,000 on a Tesla—two years later, when he went to trade it in, it had lost over $100,000 in value. He was offered something like $46,000. That’s a 67% drop! And guess what? People still buy Teslas. People buy new iPhones every year without a second thought.

Why? Because it makes them happy. Because value isn’t just about resale price—it’s about what something means to you. What’s meaningful and a treasure to you might not be the same for someone else, and that’s okay.

So I think it’s time. Please stop. Lab-grown diamonds—stop bashing them. And people who buy lab-grown diamonds—please also stop bashing those who love natural diamonds.

I don’t talk about this enough, you guys, but it’s happening on both sides, and honestly? It’s exhausting. Diamonds—whether natural or lab-grown—are about celebrating your love, your moment, your choice. So let’s stop tearing each other down and just let people enjoy what they love.

What About Craftsmanship?

Guys, have you ever Googled diamond shopping or diamond ring or searched it on YouTube? You know what pops up? A bunch of random guys saying, "Oh, you can get the same thing and save $3,000!" Like, okay, sure, but that’s not the whole story.

When you're buying a ring, of course, budget matters. But nobody—literally no one—is talking about craftsmanship. Zero. Except for me.

All they focus on is GIA papers, carat size, resale value. They completely miss the bigger picture. Because when you have good craftsmanship, that is what makes a piece truly phenomenal. That’s what makes a diamond dance in the light.

Look at the pieces I've made. It’s all about craftsmanship. And I’ve documented so many clients who, unfortunately, learned the hard way—yes, they got a big rock, but the ring itself? Terrible craftsmanship.

My channel is about education. My channel is about my passion for jewelry. I’m here to share, to teach, and to help you make an informed decision. And why is that a bad thing? At the end of the day, it’s your hard-earned money. Spend it however you want. Buy natural. Buy lab-grown. Buy whatever makes you, your partner, or your family happy. Or get nothing at all. Seriously. Get nothing. Just enjoy the free education. Okay?

Inner Peace At Last

Oh my God, I had to get this off my chest. You guys know I don’t like talking about this kind of stuff. I don’t do well with trolls. I don’t do well with negativity. That’s just me. And honestly? There are so many more serious things happening in the world than diamonds. Seriously.
