Hey, it looks like you've just been engaged – yay, congratulations! Your special someone has just gifted you a stunning, magnificent engagement ring, and you're head over heels in love. Now, you might be wondering, "What's next? How can I find the perfect match for this beauty?"
Hello, everyone! Welcome back to our By Bonnie blog, where we talk about all things diamonds!
Today, I've got three fabulous tips to help you choose the best wedding bands to pair with your exquisite four-and-a-half-carat engagement ring. Let's get started!
Tip #1: Simplify the Wedding Band
Tip number one – keep it simple with the band. Now, when you've got an absolutely stunning engagement ring (like this 4.5ct Round Diamond Engagement Ring), one that you've carefully researched and selected, you don't want to overshadow it with an overly intricate wedding band, especially if you plan to wear them together.
Sometimes, too much complexity can take the focus away from your gorgeous engagement ring. Let's aim for that perfect balance!
Tip #2: Consider a “Muted” Diamond Cut
Tip number two – think about opting for a more subdued, or shall we say, less sparkly diamond cut. Now, let me break it down for you. If your engagement ring boasts a classic round diamond or perhaps an elegant emerald cut (which is a step cut), pairing it with a wedding band featuring a similar cut can create a more understated sparkle.
This way, it won't compete with your engagement ring's brilliance, but it still exudes elegance and charm. It's all about finding that perfect harmony between the two!
Tip #3: Mix and Match Metals and Textures
Tip number three – explore different textures or metal colors for a striking contrast, but remember not to go too far out there and steal the show. Let me illustrate what I mean with a couple of examples.
First off, let's revisit the idea of simplifying your band, which suggests going for something that's not significantly larger than your engagement ring – think a classic, elegant set or something more petite.
Now, onto the second point, where we discussed opting for a more muted diamond cut.
Here, we have an east-west set emerald-cut band alongside a traditional emerald-cut band. When you compare them side by side, you'll notice that turning the diamond east-west slims down the band's width while still delivering a gorgeous sparkle. This cut pairs wonderfully with a round diamond, and it's one of my personal favorites!
Lastly, we have a yellow gold faceted wedding band that's slightly thicker, offering a beautiful contrast without stealing the spotlight from your engagement ring. It's a perfect example of how a contrasting texture or metal color can add depth to your overall look while still keeping the focus on that dazzling diamond. It's all about finding that ideal balance and enhancing the beauty of your engagement ring.
Now, here's the one significant mistake that I see people make all the time – pairing the wrong wedding band with their engagement rings.
So, you might think that matching a U-gallery-type ring with another U-gallery band is the perfect match made in heaven, right? After all, it's U-gallery versus U-gallery. But here's the catch: with U-gallery-style rings, if the diamonds are on the larger side, the girdle part is exposed. Now, when you pair it with another U-gallery band where the diamond girdles are also exposed on both ends, you run into a problem.
When these bands come together, the girdles of each diamond can rub against each other. And what happens when diamonds rub against each other? They can chip, break, and develop abrasions over time.
So, when you think about getting two large U-gallery bands together, remember that it could potentially damage the diamonds on your engagement ring. This is something you'll definitely want to avoid. Protect those precious gems!
