Hi, diamond lovers! To celebrate 30K subscribers on my YouTube channel and as a way to thank each and every one of you for loving and enjoying my videos, I wanted to do a Q&A and was so happy when I saw how many questions, comments, and emails I received. It brings me so much happiness to know that diamonds spark joy in your life just as they do in mine! Unfortunately, though, because I got so many questions I’m going to choose a few that are fun and educational. Let’s dive right in!
You’re probably thinking about getting a great big diamond and I’d like to point out that one of the main things that my channel stands for is the importance of the craftsmanship behind the ring and the actual setting because you can have the perfect stone but if you put it on a bad setting, it could turn into a nightmare.
So in the end, it comes down to what kind of experience you want to have and what kind of product you want to receive but my best advice is that it doesn’t matter whether you purchase your ring online or in-store as long as it’s well made and not mass produced.
For those of you who have the same question, I made a video about 14 versus 18-karat yellow gold that you should watch. But in a gist, the main difference is the content of gold that the piece contains.
To understand the aesthetic difference, though, we need to understand how white gold is made. Essentially, they are two yellow-gold pieces with alloy in them which is what makes them white. At first, they will look practically identical, but with time the alloy will wash off quicker on the 14-karat piece. Another important difference is that the 18-karat piece will be softer due to its higher gold content.
But in the end, a short answer would be that there’s no real aesthetic difference between 14 and 18-karat white gold, it just wears differently over time and it really comes down to your own personal preference.
I love this one but it’s going to be tough to answer because I don’t want to give much away. So I want to start off by saying that this has all been a journey for me, from when I first started making videos, it was just me and my little office. But as time went by, to be honest with you it was based on one handshake.
What I mean is that this industry is mainly based on connection and trust. I was lucky enough to meet them and to get to meet the president of GCAL and we just made it happen. The experience was very exclusive, they've never opened their doors to anybody. So what I saw in there, is definitely top secret.
If you want to know more, I’d definitely recommend that you watch the video where I show a little bit of a sneak peek of the future of diamond grading. But we're also going to be making videos on how your diamond gets graded from A to Z.
Make sure you subscribe to my channel so you can watch that video when it comes out.
This is referring to a blog and youtube video I made about how I saved my client from a $125,000 mistake and I stated there that diamond certificates or laboratories are not required to put secondary tint into their certificates, and unfortunately, it’s true.
So even if your diamond is G color face up, but it has a brown tint face down, it would not have to be disclosed in its certificate. Be aware!
Every year the diamond industry reunites in an amazing convention known as the JCK convention, and this year GCAL was playing videos of me on the screen in their booth, and honestly? I was super overwhelmed!
I don’t know if you saw it, but I posted a story on my Instagram where I straight up said I couldn’t believe it. But I definitely feel like it was a great moment for me because all of the hard work that I’ve put into my channel and all the education I’ve put out there had totally paid off.
You could say we’re out there getting connected with a lot of different people in the industry and it makes me really proud.
First of all, I want to emphasize that, for me, there’s no such thing as a perfect ratio.
But if you have shorter or wider fingers, I’d definitely recommend a shorter ratio that stays in the upper ends of the 1.3’s because if you come closer to a 1.25-ratio then you’d be getting a really heavy bottom with no carat on top.
Remember that if you’re looking for the perfect ring that suits your hand and your style, I’m always happy to make your dream come true. All you have to do is contact me here, and we can embark on your diamond journey together!
My life is pretty hectic, I’m a full-time mom, wife, and business owner. And although my son and my husband are very supportive of me, it tends to get very difficult to juggle it all. What I can say is that it takes a lot of hard work and dedication. I am stressed out a lot, and I definitely have my ups and downs. I’m sure that those of you who also have to balance these three things in your life understand how busy it can get, but in the end, I find it to be very rewarding so it makes it super worth it.
Another big challenge is that as a content creator, you have people who love you, but also people who hate you, so there is a lot of time spent dealing with online trolls. And although I love my social platform, and I love the relationships and connections I’ve created with you, I have to admit there are a few downsides to it all. There’s a lot more to be taken into account when it comes to becoming an influencer, much more than what is seen in everyday content. So it definitely adds to my everyday workload.
If you’re interested in knowing more details about how I manage it all, I recently started a personal Instagram account where I talk about different things outside of diamonds like fashion, shopping, my son, or anything fun in general. I could show you on there what my life looks like!
But, for those of you who are in my position and are trying to find some light at the end of the tunnel, I can tell you it’s a constant battle. It’s all about hard work and perseverance. It took me a while and a little bit of trial and error, but I find myself to be getting better. You can follow me on my personal account to see how I handle everything on my day-to-day.
This Q&A session was super fun, and I’d love to have another one in the future, so if you have any questions you’d like me to answer, be sure to let me know on my Instagram or through a comment on this video and I might answer it in the next episode! Also, remember that you can always contact me through my webpage for any inquiries you may have on your next piece of jewelry.
